Job Details

Title: FOIA Analyst

Work Authorization: US Citizen

Work Location: Onsite Washington DC

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review and prepare information for release in response to FOIA/Privacy Act requests.
  • Prepare documentation for, and draft responses to, FOIA/PA requests, coordinating proposed disclosures of information for several entities within the agency.
  • Process submitter notices associated with specific FOIA cases.
  • Provide initial analysis of submitter objections.
  • Maintain complete and detailed notes on all assigned cases.
  • Perform Quality Control actions on the work product.
  • Review documents under the FOIA for release to the public.
  • Perform on-site review of unclassified documents.
  • Review program records for responsiveness and suggest releasable determinations.
  • Prepare records for release, including the redaction of materials to be withheld, and duplicating materials as necessary.
  • Ensure released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable statutes or other non-releasable information.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a FOIA Analyst.
  • Must have experience supporting Federal agencies.
  • Knowledge of FOIA law with in-depth knowledge of the applications for FOIA/PA.
  • Experience processing complex FOIA requests of at least 2,000 pages per week.
  • Proficiency with FOIAXpress is required.
  • Experience providing full-scope FOIA case management, which includes reviewing agency records, maintaining cases, preparing written documentation, reviewing cases and Vaughn indices, preparing signature packages and applying FOIA fees.
  • Strong background in Civil Law Enforcement and Confidential/Commercial exemptions.
  • Highly organized with an eye for details.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to organize and process a large volume of FOIA requests under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to produce quality work independently or in a group setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
