Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and optimize CNC programs for plasma, flat laser, tube laser, press brake, and other automated operations.

Use CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SigmaNEST, or equivalent) to generate accurate part profiles, nests, and bend programs from engineering drawings and 3D models.

Verify machine setup parameters and tool paths to ensure programs run safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve programming or design issues.

Support operators with program setup, job sequencing, and troubleshooting questions.

Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to create part geometry and ensure dimensional accuracy.

Maintain and organize digital file structures for nesting, part, and job programs.

Continuously review and update existing programs to reduce cycle times, improve material yield, and enhance part quality.

Assist in standardizing programming processes and documentation for repeatability and efficiency.

Support the quality system and continuous improvement programs through accurate programming, revision control, and adherence to established procedures.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support manufacturing goals.

Uphold quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or 2‑5+ years related CNC/CAD/CAM experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Multi‑machine programming experience preferred.

Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts, applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands The employee routinely stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaches with hands and arms, and talks or hears. The employee also frequently sits, sometimes stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required visual acuity includes close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually loud.
