Matrix PMO is seeking a
Safety Specialist
who will be responsible for overseeing the safe handling and installation of Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) sections. This role requires a strong background familiar with ironworker disciplines, combined with a working understanding of cranes and heavy lift operations. The SafetyLeader will serve as the primary liaison between employees, site safety representative and project management on dayshift. This position is also responsible for implementing the Silica Mitigation Program.
The contract length is 6 month. Role is eligible for per diem.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day shift safety oversight.
Provide daily updates to the project PM providing information on safety performance, safety concerns and updates on silica waste control and handling.
Perform two safety observations per shift (in assigned tent)
Enforce safety standards consistent with OSHA, site policies, and safety programs.
Conduct pre-job safety briefings, job hazard analyses, and compliance checks.
Ensure activities are executed in accordance with established industrial safety protocols.
Support documentation requirements, including review of lift plans and generating daily reports.
Required Qualifications:
Combined 10+ years of safety oversight and craft oversight experience in an industrial, construction or heavy rigging/millwright setting.
Working knowledge of crane operations, rigging, and heavy lift logistics.
Strong communication skills with ability to interface between field teams and oversight.
Proficiency with MS suites.
OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Safety professional with EHS experience, familiar with OSHA silica control
First-Line Supervisor qualifications – experience working with both union and non-union craft.
Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of working in outdoor environments and industrial construction settings
Ability to walk the site, climb scaffolding or ladders as needed, and oversee rigging operations in real-time.
