Senior PCB Layout Engineer

Today, Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to highly‑sophisticated customers across the globe, including large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the U.S. military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of more than $1 billion of commercial contracts.
Role Summary As a Senior PCB Layout Engineer, you will be responsible for completing PCB layout across the entire company—supporting designs across payload, avionics, and power. You will interface directly with design engineers to gather board requirements and mechanical constraints, implement them into the PCB layout, and work with the PCBA manufacturing team and external fabrication and assembly vendors to implement design for manufacturing (DFM) and ensure reliable hardware is sent to space.
Responsibilities
Placement and routing of high‑reliability PCB designs, using schematic and layout input from design engineers.
Routing of power, high‑speed digital, RF, and analog PCB designs.
Support the librarian in creating and reviewing schematic symbols and footprints from datasheets and 3D models.
Own design standards, templates, release procedures, and interface to the PLM system.
Interface with PCB manufacturing team and external fabrication and assembly vendors to assess technical capabilities, design stackups, and implement DFM.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
7+ years of experience with PCB layout and routing.
Familiarity with Altium or similar design tools.
Experience with IPC standards (Class 2/3, IPC‑A-610, IPC‑7351).

Experience with scripting or automation.
Experience working with PLM software (Arena preferred).
Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Compensation & Benefits All positions include a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits. Base pay ranges between $160,000 and $200,000 USD annually. Additional compensation may include incentive stock options, high‑quality company‑subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, flexible PTO, 401(K) retirement, and free on‑site catered meals.
