We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Drafter & Engineer to join our team. Rawlings Manufacturing is a global leader in the wood processing industry and serves clients throughout the U.S. and Canada. We specialize in the design and manufacturing of innovative, heavy-duty machinery and equipment for wood product facilities. Due to growing demand and new project activity, we are seeking a Mechanical Drafter & Engineer with expertise in specifying, designing, and arranging machinery and equipment for our customers using design software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works. Enhance and refine existing product designs to support evolving Rawlings product lines. Apply engineering principles and customer feedback to improve performance, efficiency, durability, and safety of wood grinding systems. Manage mechanical engineering projects from concept and planning through design, prototyping, testing, and final implementation. Coordinate with leadership to ensure project milestones, budgets, and quality standards are consistently achieved. Create, revise, and maintain detailed assemblies, general arrangements, and fabrication drawings using CAD/CAE software (e.g., Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor). Translate concepts into accurate, manufacturable designs that align with Rawlings Manufacturing standards. Investigate materials, machinery, and design methods to evaluate feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and long-term performance. Prepare recommendations and reports to support decision-making for leadership and project teams. Organize and maintain technical drawings, schematics, and as-built documentation. Ensure accuracy and compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and internal quality control protocols. Analyze customer data, prototypes, and production metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and design optimization. Provide technical input to support continuous product and operational improvement. Work closely with customers, vendors, and partner engineering firms to coordinate fabrication and delivery schedules. Communicate technical requirements clearly and foster collaborative problem-solving to meet project goals. Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience. Proven experience in mechanical drafting, system design, and engineering within construction or manufacturing environments. Proficiency with CAD tools including AutoCAD or SolidWorks, and other relevant software. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with effective communication abilities to work collaboratively across teams. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional passionate about mechanical design innovation and technical excellence in engineering projects. Pay
