JOB DESCRIPTION

The Preschool Aide plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment for our youngest learners. This position emphasizes assisting with classroom needs and addressing the social, emotional, and physical development of children in a play-based, developmentally appropriate learning setting. You will help support teachers with implementing engaging activities that promote curiosity, self-regulation, foundational skills, and cooperative play, while also encouraging problem solving among students.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) Experience working with preschool children in a structured classroom setting Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and exercise exceptional judgment around children Ability to exercise patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for supporting young children Preferred Education/Certification

CDA (Child Development Associate) Certification Coursework in early childhood education, child development, or related fields Please note that MI School Employment and LARA Fingerprints are both required for this role. As a temporary measure, Saline Area Schools will reimburse new substitutes for the cost of these fingerprints once hired and with proof of payment submitted.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Assist in maintaining a safe, structured classroom atmosphere by aiding in setting up and cleaning up the environment Support classroom daily routine Engage with students setting up and cleaning up overall care for the classroom environment Ensure students are supervised and cared for at all times Work closely with the teacher and contribute meaningfully to a positive classroom culture that helps prepare students for success in preschool and beyond. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all families. Record maintenance skills. Knowledge of the best practices in early childhood education Knowledge of child development theories and practices. Ability to evaluate, design, and implement High Scope curriculum and early childhood teaching methodologies Ability to provide activities for children that encourage growth and development. Knowledge of applicable safety procedures. Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children. Knowledge of the High Scope curriculum and the COR Advantage assessment tool. Knowledge of the CLASS tool. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or

pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job.Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

The successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical

examination and a negative TB test result. The successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal, and a fingerprinting background check.

FLSA STATUS Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is an Edustaff position without a regular schedule. This position is not eligible for benefits. MI School Employee and LARA Fingerprints are required.

PAY RATE Starting at $17.50 per hour

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
