Solomon's Path Sourcing Solutions
The Shop Mechanic is a full-time position with typical hours from 08:00 to 17:00 CST Monday through Friday 100% onsite in Garland, Texas. This position is responsible for the service and maintenance for a fleet of 10 tractors and 160 dry van trailers. The Shop Mechanic should be mechanically inclined and be willing to work in an outdoor, shop, and occasional office environment.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Change brakes and tires on tractors and trailers
Minor diagnosing and repairs on engines
Performs air brake diagnostics and repairs on trailers
Performs wheel‑end repairs on trailers
Performs electrical systems diagnostics and repairs on trailers
Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) accurately and efficiently
Performs annual DOT inspections
Performs general truck and trailer repairs as well as repairs on all other equipment
Ability to operate all equipment and tools as trained and operate independently and as a team member
Performs safety inspections of equipment and prepares required safety documentation
Capable of identifying bad or old parts and ordering new parts as needed
Follows safety compliance and shop standards
Add and remove tractor or trailer decals as needed
Provides road service as needed
Executes yard checks at customer locations
Clean shop, tractors, trailers, work truck, and yard as needed
Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred
Trucking experience preferred
Familiar with FMCSA preferred
Federal air brake certification preferred
