Human Resources Generalist – Boswell Oil Company Boswell Oil Company is a dynamic, growth‑oriented distributor of lubricants and fuels to wholesale, retail, and commercial end‑user markets throughout Georgia. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist. Previous human‑resource experience in the petroleum or transportation industry is strongly preferred.

Base Pay Range $40,000.00/yr – $65,000.00/yr

Position Overview Under limited supervision, administer all Human Resource daily functions with a particular focus on the end‑to‑end staffing process, employee training, and benefits administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruit, screen, interview, and onboard new employees to deliver a positive employment brand experience.

Support and guide supervisors and managers through the total hiring and onboarding process, including position‑specific training.

Ensure compliance with applicant tracking and record‑keeping requirements.

Organize and conduct onboarding and orientation sessions that build cultural connection with new hires.

Support employee development by monitoring position‑specific and ongoing training; coordinate with supervisors for effective use of educational tools such as the Learning Management System.

Partner with the HR Manager to address and resolve employee relations issues, including internal investigations of employee complaints.

Administer employee benefits as the primary point of contact; utilize the online benefit administration system and communication materials like benefit guides; liaise to resolve claim inquiries.

Maintain personnel files, including updates to the HRIS, electronic records, and hard copies as appropriate.

Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations for HR functions and related compliance.

Monitor and update required legal postings on bulletin boards and electronically.

Drive employee engagement and appreciation by planning and executing morale‑boosting activities in coordination with the Business Manager.

Assist department and location leaders in developing and using company policies and procedures, fostering inter‑departmental rapport.

Maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for all personnel in compliance with ADA, OSHA, and other laws.

Prepare employee communication documents, including new‑hire, disability, benefit, separation notices, and related documentation; disseminate or collect the data and forms.

Work with the HR Manager or third‑party providers in managing employee life‑cycle processes and transactions.

Promote safety activities, such as committee meetings, audits, and accident investigations.

Act as a partner in the talent‑management process to include progressive discipline and termination in accordance with company policy.

Determine the best methods to deliver training, preparing materials, locations, and supplies.

Develop and maintain a library of training materials and documentation.

Periodically review internal training programs, recommend and facilitate improvements.

Research and identify training needs and/or benefits.

Design, draft, or acquire new training materials.

Collaborate with outside consultants and training providers to deliver training.

Administer, score, and log results of qualification, learning assessment, and retention tests; arrange retraining or other appropriate action for insufficient scores.

Maintain payroll, including employee records, processing timecards, paychecks, computation of federal and state payroll taxes, and miscellaneous deductions (via outsourced payroll system).

Assist in planning and implementing changes in the HRIS system.

Support management of Worker’s Compensation claims and maintain related records and correspondence.

Support regulatory compliance for drivers through complete documentation and record keeping, including Drive Qualification Files.

Represent the company at internal and external meetings.

Schedule and participate in departmental meetings.

Assist in standardizing work methods.

Provide or compile data for HR reports and analysis.

Other duties as assigned.

Other (Non‑Essential) Functions

Greet walk‑in customers while answering telephone calls and emails; direct inquiries to relevant staff.

Travel to any Boswell Oil location to support HR functions such as Open Enrollment Meetings.

Coordinate travel, correspondence, and other administrative needs of company executives and owners.

Monitor office supply inventory and order as needed at all locations.

Cross‑train to assist in other departments.

Safety Requirements Responsible for employee safety: attend safety training, comply with company safety policies, and report all accidents/injuries immediately to the manager and HR Department.

Supervisory Responsibilities Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of non‑supervisory personnel to support talent management and retention efforts. Partner with managers/supervisors to interview, hire, train, appraise, reward, discipline employees, and address complaints.

Qualifications Education: Associate’s Degree in Human Resource Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum 2 years in human‑resource administration; transportation industry experience preferred, especially with Department of Transportation compliance.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries; read, speak, write English; present prepared information to diverse groups.

Mathematical Skills: Comprehend and apply principles of mathematics; work with fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions; knowledge of costing and production methods in manufacturing.

Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions; define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Preferred to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.

Computer Skills: Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Web Browser, HRIS or payroll systems, Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems.

Physical Demands: Sit, talk, hear, walk; use hands to handle; reach; sometimes stoop, kneel, crouch; lift up to 25 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs occasionally; apply ‘buddy system’ for >50 lbs; walk stairs/ladders; function in humid, chemical and heat environments; handle low to moderate noise.

Work Environment: Humid conditions, fumes, toxic chemicals, heat; occasional work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to external conditions; moderate noise.
