Core Job Functions
Develop new client relationships to increase sales volume in the areas of construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, industrial, commercial and institutional owners in accordance with corporate guidelines.
Maintain client relationships to ensure the company expands its customer base and increases sales volume.
Review and analyze weekly cost reports to evaluate job costs versus estimated costs to assure estimate accuracy.
Interpret bid documents, plans and specifications to prepare complete and explicit preliminary designs, ensuring accurate estimated costs.
Prepare complete explicit proposals and specifications to provide an accurate and detailed scope of work and exclusions.
Analyze specifications for payment terms, insurance requirements, retainage and liquidated damages to ensure all costs are included in estimates for any unusual requirements.
Research and determine the need for subcontractors; obtain competitive quotations to produce a complete and competitive bid proposal.
Provide proper information to design, construction manufacturing and project managers for efficient scheduling, shipping, installation and completion of contract.
Identify and obtain all extras for the contract with project managers to ensure project profit objectives.
Participate in decision‑making during contract duration with the project manager and designer to provide background project information and assure profit objectives.
Attend pre‑bid meetings to develop a complete and thorough understanding of project requirements.
Make necessary building surveys and review pipe locations to provide information required to prepare an accurate job estimate.
Special Activities
Investigate trends and fluctuations in the fire protection market by following through with the project to determine award outcomes.
Entertain clients outside normal business hours to grow and develop relationships.
Must have a dependable personal vehicle.
Participate in associations to further your career and gain Oliver name recognition.
Network with other divisions of the company to gain new customers.
Minimum General Education
High School Diploma
College Degree Preferred – Bachelor’s
Minimum Working Experience
College degree in construction‑related field or equivalent experience in fire protection with proven ability to sell and make persuasive presentations of ideas or facts.
Specialized Knowledge/Qualifications
Proficient in methods, materials, codes and engineering.
NFPA Codes knowledge.
Building Codes knowledge.
Ability to see the WHOLE picture.
Ability to develop long‑term relationships.
Other Requirements
Must be located within the United States.
Be able to commute daily to office and job sites (as required).
Fluent English speaker (other languages helpful but not required).
Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background verification check.
Valid driver’s license.
