The Team Credit Analytics is an integral part of the Global Ratings Services team within S&P Global Ratings, comprising a diverse group of 1400 analysts spread across key financial hubs worldwide. The Americas Public Finance Housing team manages a portfolio of approximately 600 ratings associated with housing finance agencies, public housing authorities, and community development finance institutions. We value analytical excellence, mentorship, and expertise in affordable housing markets.
Responsibilities and Impact
Serve as primary analyst and recognized expert for housing credits of varying size and complexity, demonstrating advanced knowledge of affordable housing markets, housing finance agencies, and community development finance institutions
Lead and mentor junior analysts in complex analytical matters, providing expert guidance on housing sector analysis while role‑modeling analytical curiosity and collaborative teamwork to build organizational knowledge
Apply comprehensive credit knowledge to analyze complex bond securities, economic indicators, management structures, governance frameworks, and challenging deal‑specific situations while making well‑informed recommendations
Participate actively in rating committees as a subject matter expert, contributing analytical insights and influencing credit decisions through well‑reasoned presentations that demonstrate mastery of S&P methodologies
Communicate complex housing analysis effectively to diverse stakeholders including issuers, municipal advisors, investors, and media through analytical reports, timely industry commentaries, and thought leadership pieces
Manage analytical resources to deliver high‑quality analysis across your portfolio while ensuring annual surveillance requirements are met and maintaining S&P's quality standards
Foster a risk‑aware culture by leading by example and ensuring analytical rigor in all housing sector evaluations
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‑person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer
What We're Looking For Basic Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
4+ years of experience in Public Finance with demonstrated expertise in housing sector analysis, affordable housing programs, or housing finance agencies
Proven ability to lead and mentor analytical professionals, with experience guiding junior colleagues through complex credit analysis and operational processes
Strong credit analysis expertise including experience with bond structures, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment methodologies
Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate complex housing market dynamics to diverse audiences both internally and externally
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment while operating with autonomy and requiring minimal direction
Change‑ready mindset with preparation to adapt to a changing work environment, including AI‑human analytical workflows.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in business, public policy, public administration, finance, or related field
Experience with housing finance agency operations, affordable housing tax credits, or community development finance
Track record of mentoring and developing analytical talent within financial services or rating agencies
Experience writing analytical reports or thought leadership pieces in housing or public finance sectors
Compensation/Benefits Information The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $158,000, depending on location, experience, and skills. This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan and additional S&P Global benefits.
