Trillium Publishing
Trillium Publishing is looking for a full-time math editor to join our editorial team. The right candidate will have at least two years of experience with developmental editing of math instructional materials, including teacher lessons and student texts, and have the ability to think flexibly, understand thoughtfully, and adapt nimbly to the needs of our various clients, and then efficiently produce high-quality content. Experience with K–8 math materials and current classroom math pedagogy is required; experience with high school level math, ELA, or other subject area materials is a plus.
Note: While this is a remote position, all employees
must be located in Illinois or Washington State .
Assess editorial content (i.e., manuscript, layouts) for adherence to component content guidelines (skills, standards, instructional strategies, etc.).
Rewrite or modify editorial content to embody component content guidelines and quality standards.
Track and manage deliverables to meet project schedules and budgets.
Consult with team members regarding editorial content and project management.
Review the work of inhouse and freelance copyeditors, providing feedback and answering questions, to maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience editing K-8 math content in a publishing organization or in an education-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to assess the pedagogical soundness of instructional materials from a variety of math domains (e.g., algebraic thinking, fractions, geometry, data, statistics); Understanding of best practices for using concrete and representational math models
Ability to be self-directed and work independently and collaboratively as part of a remote team
Ability to work effectively and flexibly given changing project requirements
Expert knowledge of the structure and content of the English language
Familiarity with educational settings, either through professional or volunteer work
Understanding of the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making; Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Basic knowledge of content copyright laws
Strong collaboration and creative problem-solving skills; confidence to rely on expert knowledge
Strong organization and time management skills; flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities
Meticulous and detail-oriented
