Account Manager/Outside Sales Representative

to join their team in

Sterling, Virginia .

If you have experience in construction and building materials, a strong sales background, and a desire to keep learning about new products and systems, we’d love to talk with you.

In this role, you’ll represent Tart Lumber out in the field, working directly with custom home builders and remodelers. You’ll help customers find the right products for their building and renovation projects, using your knowledge of materials and commitment to top‑notch service to support the reputation we’ve built over decades—for quality, dependability, and expertise.

WHAT WE OFFER.

$55,000 - $85,000 expected first year wage which includes base pay plus commission.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

Manage and grow a portfolio of builder, remodeler, and contractor accounts.

Improve product mix penetration with existing customers and high‑end residential builders.

Call on and meet with existing customers, high‑end builders, and contractors during the sales process to collect customer product needs and design specifications.

Quote full‑house packages—from framing lumber to finished millwork (windows, doors, moulding, and trim).

Provide accurate takeoffs, pricing, and material recommendations based on project plans.

Collaborate with Tart Lumber’s estimating, purchasing, and delivery teams to ensure high‑quality service.

Maintain strong relationships with job site superintendents and decision‑makers.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Building material sales experience preferred. In lieu of experience, we will train someone that is highly motivated with an exceptional understanding of building materials, construction, or a comparable industry.

You are customer focused, enjoy building relationships, and excel in providing exceptional customer experiences.

Proficient with computers and Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, email, calendar) required.

You are dependable, ethical, and a good communicator.
