Lead Estimator - Heavy Civil (Bridge & Rail)
Base pay range
$140,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr
Overview We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to oversee estimating efforts for complex heavy civil bridge and rail projects. This role plays a key part in pursuing and securing large, technically challenging infrastructure work and works closely with operations and leadership to develop competitive, accurate bids.
Responsibilities
Lead estimating efforts for heavy civil bridge and rail projects from pursuit through bid submission
Prepare and review detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and pricing for complex infrastructure projects
Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to assess scope, risk, and constructability
Coordinate with project management, engineering, and field operations to develop accurate production rates and schedules
Lead subcontractor and supplier outreach, bid leveling, and pricing evaluations
Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
Support post‑bid reviews and project handoff to operations
Qualifications
Proven experience estimating complex heavy civil bridge and rail projects
Strong understanding of heavy civil construction means and methods related to bridges, rail, and infrastructure
Experience leading estimates on large, high‑value projects
Ability to mentor and guide junior estimators
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
