Mortgage Underwriter Level 1 – Contract (Vienna, VA)Location: Hybrid- Vienna, VAEmployment Type: ContractPay Range: 27.00+About the RoleWe’re looking for a Mortgage Underwriter to review and approve mortgage loans, including conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, and home equity. You’ll analyze credit, review appraisals, and make decisions to ensure compliance with guidelines and minimize risk.Minimum QualificationsExtensive Mortgage Processing Experience (e.g., Processor, Closer, Loan Officer)Knowledge of underwriting processes and regulationsPreferred QualificationsDelegated Credit Authority (typically $1–$2M)VA SAR/LAPP and/or FHA DE certificationsExperience with conventional and VA loans, credit analysis, and tax return reviewKey ResponsibilitiesReview loan documents and verify accuracyAnalyze borrower creditworthiness (DTI, LTV)Evaluate appraisals and ensure collateral meets guidelinesApprove or decline loans within authorityCollaborate with loan officers and processorsMaintain compliance with federal regulationsSkills NeededStrong underwriting and financial analysis skillsFamiliarity with FHA tools and mortgage systemsExcellent communication and judgmentJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Vienna, VA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
