Loan Officer, Junior – Retail
Location: Ocean City, MD
Department: Retail – MD Ocean City
General Business Hours: M-F: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Shift: 40 hours per week. Eligible for approved overtime.

Summary When a top producing Branch Manager or Retail Loan Officer achieves a production level that exceeds the time and effort available from one individual, they may build a team of support staff. The Junior Loan Officer is responsible for many Loan Officer activities for the loan origination team. Through professional persistence, the Junior Loan Officer solicits and originates loans that are acceptable to the chosen investors and agencies. They develop and maintain a strong client referral base by selling the firm’s loan products and services to meet the needs of its client base such as realtors, builders, home buyers, CPAs, financial planners, and others. In essence, the Junior Loan Officer is responsible for growing the team’s production and creating their own production, as well.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required
Education:
Minimum of a high school diploma required. College Degree in Business or Finance preferred, but not required.
Experience:
Minimum 1+ years of loan originator experience, loan officer assistant experience, or strong sales experience with demonstrated potential to transfer skills to mortgage origination. Minimum of 1+ year of marketing experience in a sales environment. Experience supporting a manager on a day‑to‑day basis or experience as an executive assistant.
Skills:
Detail oriented, organized with strong follow‑up & time management skills. Basic math skills. Interpersonal skills that forge professional relationships and support, strong oral, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, write and communicate at a level consistent with the requirements of this position and to generate independent leads for new business. Knowledgeable and articulate regarding all aspects of the loan products offered such as FHA/VA, FHLMC, FNMA, JUMBO and all other Area, City, State, County and National loan programs that the company offers. Strong skill set in social media marketing and ability to gain customer interaction with such marketing techniques. Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
License:
Must obtain or currently have an active Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license through NMLS prior to receiving a job offer.
Systems:
Experience using Empower Loan Management Software preferred but training is provided. Experience using a CRM system and other basic marketing tools required. Other systems/platforms used daily such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, DocuSign, Social Media and more.
Training Required Participate in additional training on sales, technology, products, procedures and pricing on an ongoing basis. Complete annual training as required by company policy and law in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Support
Support loan officers with realtor, builder, and partner outreach; manage and track referral partner follow‑ups.
Help maintain consistent communication with key accounts.
Prepare contact lists and outreach schedules.
CRM & Database Management
Maintain and update CRM records (realtors, past clients, prospects).
Track touchpoints, notes, and follow‑up reminders.
Assist with segmentation for marketing and outreach campaigns.
Ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Marketing & Campaign Coordination
Assist with execution of marketing campaigns (email, social, events).
Coordinate co‑branded materials with realtors.
Help schedule and post social media content as directed.
Work with corporate or third‑party marketing vendors when needed.
Event & Local Outreach Coordination
Help plan and coordinate realtor events, open houses, lunch‑and‑learns, community or networking events; manage invitations, RSVPs and post‑event follow‑ups.
Track event outcomes and leads.
Administrative & Operational Support
Prepare marketing packets and presentations.
Organize calendars related to business development activities.
Assist with reporting (activity tracking, outreach metrics).
Handle light administrative tasks to keep workflows moving.
Communication & Client Experience
Serve as a professional point of contact for partners and clients.
Ensure timely responses and follow‑through.
Help maintain a polished, consistent brand experience.
Maintain a professional image and standards consistent with company policies and procedures.
Follow through on all professional conditions and continued education requirements for licensure.
Occasionally participate in branch/headquarter meetings that require attendance.
Other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager or assigned Retail Loan Officer.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES Attend and participate in all Monthly Awards Ceremonies, Corporate Gatherings & Training Events. Read all newsletters and bulletins to remain current on corporate policies, procedures and developments.
DRIVER ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES This position requires reliable transportation and the operation of a motor vehicle from time to time in order to perform required job duties. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license of the state in which they reside. Additionally, drivers should have at least 2 years of driving experience and be at least 18 years old. Embrace Home Loans reserves the right to enforce additional driver eligibility guidelines as required by law.
