Job Opportunities The Town of Chatham is seeking a skilled, motivated and detail-oriented professional to serve as our first Public Works Associate in the Department of Public Works. Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, the Public Works Associate performs a variety of technical and professional duties in support of the Town’s public works operations. The position plays a key role in construction oversight, asset management, stormwater and drainage management, occupational safety and related design functions. This role also contributes to the maintenance of Town infrastructure, including sidewalks, roadways and drainage systems, while ensuring compliance with applicable standards. The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree in civil engineering or a related field, or three to five years of experience in construction project management or engineering. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and MassDOT guidelines preferred. This benefits and pension-eligible position is 40 hours per week. Starting annual salary of $76,232.00 - $79,310.40 (paid at a biweekly rate of $2,932.00 - $3,050.40 (2% cost of living increase scheduled for 7/1/26). The position is covered under the Chatham Municipal Employees Association.
