Position Summary: The Shelter Aide ensures overnight clients receive quality services by providing assistance while they are in residence at The Salvation Army program.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelter
- Assist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and clean-up
- Assure the shelter area is kept clean and orderly
- Assure residents follow shelter policies and procedures
- Transport or arrange for transportation of clients needing medical care
- Facilitate referrals to area social service agencies to move client toward discharge from the shelter
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Maintain strict client confidentiality
- Learn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of Ethics
- Adhere to professional codes of ethics as they apply to professional licensing
- Understand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organization
- Demonstrate a continued effort to increase self-awareness and to better understand other cultures and issues of social justice, and promote racial understanding and reconciliation
Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
- Basic computer skills
Certificates and Licenses:
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
