About the Opportunity

Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer - Serviceability to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves driving the Design for Serviceability (DFS) of their products, performing evaluations of form, fit, function, access, and analysis. This is a high-impact role that requires a self‑motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Partnering with cross‑functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability).
  • Evaluating part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components.
  • Developing service part release strategy and maintaining the Service BOM for spare parts planning.
  • Working closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
  • Identifying the need for specialized tooling. Guiding the special tooling team for design ideation, and development of the tool.
  • Participating in requirements definition as it pertains to service, availability of the product, and reliability.
  • Providing comprehensive cost/time modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product change that supports the reduction of cost or complexity of the repair.
  • Working with the technical writing team to establish the repair process.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4-6 years of engineering experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle.
  • Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with product and process validation.
  • Tooling and/or equipment design experience.
  • Detail-oriented, including proven documentation skills.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience, CATIA a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
