is looking for experienced
Renewal Underwriters
for their company headquarters in Overland Park, KS. While adhering strictly to ALTA Risk’s Underwriting Guidelines and operating within the Renewal Underwriters Letter of Authority, the primary responsibility of the Renewal Underwriter is to review the renewal submission to determine eligibility, and if deemed eligible, generate a renewal premium quotation and communicate terms and conditions to the Alta Risk broker. The Renewal Underwriters must coordinate the delivery and the follow up of renewal terms and conditions with the originating underwriter. Any account deemed in Jeopardy must be identified by the Renewal Underwriter 30 days prior to expiration and brought to the attention of the Renewal Underwriters manager.
Renewal Underwriter Duties
Work within Underwriting Guidelines and applicable Underwriter Letter of Authority to classify and rate an account at renewal in order to provide renewal terms
Review renewal applications to confirm that information is appropriate to proceed in underwriting actions
Create Renewal Spreadsheet Raters to re-rate and formulate renewal quotes for all renewal accounts assigned
Receive referral approval from Renewal Management/Senior Underwriting on all accounts that are not within the Renewal Underwriter’s Letter of Authority
Perform ISO re-rates and obtain updated SAFER reports on accounts that have an Auto exposure
Expected to communicate any accounts that may be in jeopardy of being lost at renewal to Renewal Management
Monitoring account pricing and rate at renewal to ensure that appropriate rate goals are maintained
Review and provide bind order details to Underwriting Assistants for binding/issuance
Complete Quality Assurance and Quality Control review on all bind orders
Foster positive working relationships with wholesale brokers
Foster positive working relationships with Alta’s new business underwriting team to fully understand the renewal accounts
Utilize time management abilities in a fast-paced, high volume environment, which includes organizing, multitasking and triaging account priority
Responsible for endorsement requests during term of policy
Review renewal account subjectivities as they are received for accuracy and acceptability
Review underlying policies as they are received for accuracy and acceptability
Perform other duties as may be assigned
Knowledge/Experience
Full understanding and application of concepts, practices and procedures related to insurance, typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent, with 2-3 years of insurance experience, or a B.A. in insurance or risk management.
Necessary Skills/Attributes
The ability to:
Interact/develop relationships at all levels both internally and externally
Manage strict details
Handle multiple tasks
Proficient computer knowledge including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office
Verbal/written communication skills and math skills
Ability to resolve moderately complex problems
Organize tasks effectively
Heavy word processing/keying required
Work is performed under immediate to general supervision, following well-defined instructions, policies, and procedures
