The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.
Schedule: Evening (PM)
Responsibilities
Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned
Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed
Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s)
Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures
Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verify dosages with physician prior to dispensing
Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills, preparing medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance
Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities when needed
Respond promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect, personal dignity and confidentiality
Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given
Assist residents in daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, activities and bowel and bladder functions
Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating and clearing trays
Transport residents as necessary, assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, following safety/lifting techniques
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
A minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required
Background clearances as required by government regulations
Must meet health requirements, including TB
