Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide. We’re excited to hire a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and general light repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs in a mobile/field environment.

Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on a wide range of truck equipment, including electrical, braking, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.

Diagnose, adjust and repair various truck components, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.

Road‑test vehicles to ensure proper operation.

Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and determine solutions with sound judgment.

Maintain and manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.

Conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections of the service vehicle.

Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information and resolve issues.

Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage a daily schedule independently.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.

Document work on company‑issued iOS devices using the TRAIT application, upload photos, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO).

Complete DOT forms and all other required documentation promptly.

Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.

Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.

Communicate with management and support teams for repair estimates, purchase orders, and findings.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conducting daily safety checks and pre/post trip inspections.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Possess a set of hand tools necessary for the role.

Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.

Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background check and DOT physical (or provide a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).

Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license (Class C). Safe driving record required and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
