Our Resident Care Directors are responsible for: Resident Services
Developing and implementing the highest standards for assisted living services.
Working directly with residents to evaluate needs and services.
Conducting and/or assisting with electronic evaluation of incoming residents and with periodic re‑evaluation to ensure services rendered are documented and charged for according to Merrill Gardens’ policies.
Implementing services during new resident move‑in and helping residents with orientation to and adjustment to the community.
Providing direct care to residents as needed according to their identified service needs.
Accurately assessing, communicating, and documenting resident status. Observing and reporting any significant changes in resident behavior and health to the GM, physician, and family per state regulations.
Conducting regular meetings with residents and their families to ensure their needs are being met.
Communicating with resident family members, physicians, and pharmacists as needed regarding residents and services provided.
Ensuring all Resident Rights and Responsibilities are protected and enforced, recognizing and assisting in the prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and reporting to the appropriate sources per state regulations.
Addressing difficult resident behaviors with dignity and respect.
Guaranteeing compliance with all State Rules and Regulations of assisted living.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Providing team members with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.
Challenging and inspiring team members to achieve results.
Evaluating team members’ skills and competencies and ensuring the completion of performance reviews.
Setting clear expectations and holding team members accountable for performance.
Overseeing training and development of team members directly and indirectly managed, ensuring training and certification of all AL staff is completed as required by Merrill Gardens and state regulations.
Providing coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to achieve employee engagement and customer delight.
Mentoring team members using electronic care system.
Building effective teams by determining adequate staffing levels, identifying and recruiting top talent.
Preparing staffing schedules to meet all community requirements for standards of care.
Administration
Adhering to budgetary guidelines established by Merrill Gardens.
Coordinating with General Manager for financial stability of assisted living department from both census development and expense control.
Providing General Manager with weekly status reports on all AL residents.
Maintaining all resident records and department documentation.
Complying with state‑mandated reporting as required.
Auditing AL services for regulatory compliance.
Providing additional management reports as required.
Qualifications Education
Current LPN/LVN or RN licensure, as specified by state agency.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire where required by state.
Completion of dementia training as required by state regulations within six months of hire date if applicable.
Experience
3‑years’ related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in assisted living, geriatric nursing, or gerontology and dementia care.
Experience in medication administration and hands‑on personal care preferred.
Demonstrated ability in budgeting and cost control.
Experience in operating an electronic care system.
Physical Requirements This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and assisting with resident care. Regular bending, reaching, and physical movement are required throughout the workday. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
