Overview
Lead Cashier (LC) responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics at Ulta Beauty. The LC assists in training new cashiers and cross‑training associates, driving loyalty results, sales, guest experience, and process compliance.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance
Contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, omni‑channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
Provide exceptional service: greet and engage each guest, personalize service, recommend Ulta Beauty products and/or services.
Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
Book and support execution of services and in‑store events to deliver an unrivaled guest experience while reaching sales goals.
Maintain replenishment, organization, and maintenance of all cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures for guest‑readiness.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
People
Create an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests.
Complete cashier chat‑ins and chat‑outs and associate exit inspections as needed.
Stay informed about new industry trends, products, and services; be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits.
Share benefits of the loyalty program, include credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests, lead associates, and create excitement toward credit and loyalty goals.
Assist in training new cashiers and cross‑training associates in cashiering.
Lead by engaging and influencing peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Drive cashier accountability in delivering a personalized Ulta Beauty brand experience.
Participate in ongoing training, brand and category education, for continuous professional development and sales performance.
Collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
Process
Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
Adhere to the dress code.
Complete all transactions, including guest returns and associate transactions, and control cash and media at the cashwrap according to company policies.
Perform select register open and close functions as directed.
Maintain outstanding store standards and overall cleanliness throughout the store.
Protect company assets and minimize loss by meeting all store standards and operating procedures.
Execute other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications Education
High school diploma preferred.
Experience
2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
Proven ability to delegate, multi‑task, and problem‑solve.
Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and selling competency.
Experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally to deliver exceptional customer service.
Demonstrated experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
Skills
Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and remain flexible/adaptable.
Special Position Requirements
Work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The role cannot be held by a minor; must be 18 years of age or older.
Working Conditions
Continuous mobility, twisting, bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, and reaching during shift.
Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs during shift.
Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $17.75 – $22.50 per hour. Exact pay based on education, experience, shift, location, and business needs. Full‑time positions eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits; part‑time positions eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Overtime pay may be earned as required by law.
