Compliance Specialist Lead CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Specialist Lead! This role plays a key part in supporting the development and administration of an effective regulatory compliance program to ensure adherence to state regulatory and statutory requirements. The Compliance Specialist Lead will research, investigate, and resolve compliance issues, maintain clear communication with regulators, and oversee the appointment of agencies and producers in alignment with state regulations. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the company’s compliance strategy and operations.

Job Responsibilities

Leads team of compliance professionals with corporate compliance work

Participates in the administration and oversight of compliance programs for all jurisdictions and product lines written by CopperPoint

Works with the CCO, VP Compliance, compliance team members, and Compliance Oversight Committee to assist CopperPoint departments to develop and implement compliance programs that include: identification of applicable regulatory requirements, creating control plans to ensure compliance, monitoring for changes to requirements, identifying areas of non‑compliance and implementing and tracking actions to restore compliance

Assists in coordinating and administering licenses held by the CopperPoint group and in making required filings to maintain those licenses with state insurance departments, secretaries of state, corporation commissions, etc.

Coordinates and maintains log of responses to regulatory matters and/or inquiries from regulators.

Research, document, communicate and track compliance‑related legal and regulatory changes and information arising from bulletins and other information issued by regulatory and non‑regulatory authorities (including PCI, NAMIC, NAIC, NCCI, ISO and AAIS) affecting lines of business written by CopperPoint and follows up to ensure implementation of necessary changes

Assists in reviewing new and revised insurance products, policies and other required forms to ensure compliance with state regulatory and statutory requirements and in making required filings

Assists in coordinating regulatory examinations and audits (i.e. financial exams, market conduct exams) and responses to data calls and surveys and complaint responses

Manages regulatory/compliance software as needed

Perform other compliance, legal and administrative tasks

Supports the Compliance Committee, ad‑hoc and special projects

Helps to develop, implement and continually improve processes and procedures

Prepares reports and metrics for the compliance team, as needed

Works with Underwriting and Business Development & Distribution as customer service contact for appointment statuses, appointment procedures, and state regulations.

In compliance with state regulation, ensures agencies and producers have valid licenses, are appointed, and provided complete required documentation of licensing.

Maintains agency and producers’ spreadsheets, communicates to agencies and producers as needed, and supports other departments on an as needed basis.

Qualifications/Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, related discipline, or equivalent experience.

A minimum of 2 years insurance industry experience preferred.

Work Location

This position offers flexible work options and can be hybrid or fully remote, depending on the candidate’s location.

We provide some benefits at no cost to the employee (Basic Life Insurance and AD&D at two times an employee’s annual salary, Short‑ and Long‑term Disability coverage, and Employee Assistant Plan).

Employees will accrue 0.0769 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 20 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Salary Range

$85,000.00 – $115,000.00 annually

Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.

In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
