Estimator/Planner

Estimate costs and plan repairs for heavy industrial equipment. Interpret engineering drawings and develop job workflows. Collaborate with engineers and customers to define project scopes. Ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in all repair projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer RFQs, engineering drawings, and inspection findings to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for machining, welding, metal spray, and engineered repair processes.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
  • Plan and sequence workflow for disassembly, inspection, machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems for job costing and workflow management.
  • Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and project managers to define repair strategies.
  • Communicate technical information clearly with customers and internal teams.
  • Apply knowledge of rotating equipment components, mechanical fits, and precision alignment.
  • Integrate quality, safety, and engineering requirements into all job plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in estimating, process planning, and workflow optimization.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for modeling and machining strategies.
  • Understanding of metallurgy and heat treatment processes.
  • Familiarity with NDT methods (MT, PT, UT) and their impact on repair scope.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize under tight deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of pump assembly and components.
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement.

Job Type & Location:

This is a permanent position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $85000.00/yr. N/A at this time.
