Job Title
Under direction, to perform assigned tasks in professional recreation work involved in organizing and conducting a wide variety of City-sponsored activities at an assigned playground or recreational area; and perform related duties as required. Key Responsibilities
Assists in planning; organizes and conducts groups or classes in music, dance, dramatics, arts and crafts, team and individual sports, and various other social and recreational programs; provides leadership in athletic activities; directs and maintains discipline in indoor and outdoor play areas; may prepare publicity news releases; may conduct City-wide special events; observes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of recreation participants and spectators; renders first aid in cases of minor injury; chaperones groups at dances; maintains records and assists in submission of reports; performs other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Enrollment in an accredited junior college, college, or university is preferred. The rules and skills involved in recreational activities; objectives and methods of recreation programs; methods of enlisting the support, interest, and participation of children and adults; good physical condition. Present written and oral reports; work cooperatively with others. Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
