Technical Writer- IT BMA is seeking a Technical Writer - IT to join our team. This is a remote position. Job Summary The Technical Writer - IT is a senior proposal professional responsible for developing compelling, compliant, and technically accurate proposal content in support of DoD and Federal Enterprise IT, systems integration, and technical services opportunities. This role bridges capture strategy, solution architecture, and proposal execution—translating complex technical approaches into clear, persuasive narratives that directly align to solicitation requirements and evaluation criteria. The Technical Writer - IT supports the company’s proposal development lifecycle by transforming complex Enterprise IT, cybersecurity, and technical integration concepts into clear, compelling, and compliant proposal content. This role partners with solution architects, engineers, program managers, and capture teams to develop technical narratives, discriminators, staffing approaches, past performance write ups, and graphics that accurately reflect the company’s capabilities and meet DoD solicitation requirements. The Technical Writer ensures all proposal content is technically sound, compliant with Section L/M, and aligned with customer mission needs across enterprise scale IT environments. The Technical Writer - IT is a core member of proposal teams, supporting pursuits across IDIQs, task orders, and standalone competitions. This position requires hands‑on technical writing experience addressing Enterprise IT modernization, cloud/hybrid environments, cybersecurity, application development, and system integration—while maintaining strict compliance with RFP instructions, Section L/M, and customer priorities. Performance May Include, But Is Not Limited To Proposal Development & Technical Narrative Creation Develop high‑quality technical proposal volumes (Technical, Management, Staffing, Transition, Cybersecurity, Past Performance) for DoD solicitations including RFPs, RFIs, and IDIQ task orders. Translate complex Enterprise IT and integration concepts—cloud, networks, cybersecurity, data flows, interfaces, Zero Trust, ICAM, DevSecOps—into clear, evaluable proposal language. Craft discriminators, strengths, and win themes that align with customer mission priorities and evaluation criteria. Ensure full compliance with Section L/M, CDRLs, SOW/PWS requirements, and all formatting, page limits, and submission instructions. Technical Integration & Enterprise IT Expertise Work with engineers and architects to document system architectures, integration patterns, data exchanges, and technical workflows relevant to enterprise‑scale DoD environments. Interpret and articulate technical solutions for cloud migration, modernization, cybersecurity, Zero Trust, network engineering, and system interoperability. Support development of interface control descriptions, system diagrams, and technical process flows for inclusion in proposals. Collaboration & SME Engagement Conduct structured interviews with technical SMEs to extract solution details, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy. Facilitate content reviews, adjudicate comments, and maintain version control across multiple proposal contributors. Partner with capture and proposal managers to align writing with the win strategy, price to win, and customer hot buttons. Compliance, Quality, and Configuration Management Maintain proposal content in accordance with configuration control, versioning, and corporate proposal processes. Ensure all content is audit‑ready, factually accurate, and traceable to validated technical inputs. Apply industry best practices for plain language, clarity, readability, and evaluator‑friendly structure. Graphics, Visuals, and Storytelling Develop or guide creation of technical graphics, including system diagrams, workflows, RACI charts, integration maps, and solution overviews. Convert technical concepts into visual artifacts that strengthen evaluator understanding and highlight solution strengths. Reusable Content & Knowledge Management Maintain and update a library of technical boilerplate, past performance summaries, resumes, and solution descriptions. Capture lessons learned and reusable artifacts to improve future proposal quality and efficiency. Perform selected IT functional area work as required. Clearance Requirements Candidate must have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to maintain this position. Required Skills & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, or systems engineering documentation. Experience supporting DoD or federal proposals. Demonstrated ability to write about Enterprise IT, cybersecurity, cloud, networks, application development, and system integration. Strong ability to interpret engineering inputs and convert them into evaluator‑friendly proposal content. Proficiency with proposal tools (SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, Adobe, MS Office). Ability to obtain Secret Clearance. Desired Skills & Certifications Experience supporting proposals for Enterprise IT modernization, Zero Trust, RMF/ATO, DevSecOps, or cloud migration. Familiarity with DoDAF, MBSE, UML, or similar architecture frameworks. Experience developing technical staffing approaches, transition plans, and risk mitigation strategies. Ability to create or refine technical graphics using Visio, draw.io, or similar tools. Current Secret Clearance.
