Our client, Krasan Consulting Services, is seeking the following. Role: Content Strategist / Business Analyst (Senior Business Architect) Location: Remote Project: SharePoint Portal Development Project Notes: Candidates should be able to travel 2-3 days quarterly to Springfield, IL, as per client requirements, based on project needs. Position Overview We are seeking a detail‑oriented Content Strategist with Business Analyst capabilities to join our team on a SharePoint portal development project. This role will be instrumental in helping our client consolidate and organize content spread across multiple systems including SharePoint, Laserfiche, iDrives, and other repositories into a unified, searchable portal experience. The ideal candidate combines strong content management expertise with analytical thinking and a consultative approach. You will help define how users discover and interact with content across the organization through intuitive navigation and faceted search functionality. Key Responsibilities Content Strategy & Planning Develop and document a comprehensive content management plan for migrating and organizing content from disparate systems Design and refine taxonomies and metadata frameworks to support findability across departments Define content types, tagging conventions, and governance standards for documents, HTML pages, media files, and other digital assets Conduct content audits and inventories across existing systems to assess scope and migration requirements Information Architecture Design intuitive navigation structures and site hierarchies for the SharePoint portal Develop requirements for global faceted search functionality that enables users to filter and locate content efficiently Create content models and wireframes that illustrate how information will be organized and accessed Collaborate with UX and technical teams to ensure the architecture supports user needs Business Analysis & Requirements Gather and document business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories Develop process flows and documentation for content workflows and lifecycle management Support product thinking by identifying opportunities to improve how the organization manages and leverages its content Content Migration Support Define migration strategies and prioritization for content across multiple source systems Develop mapping documentation to guide content transformation and metadata alignment Establish quality assurance criteria for migrated content Coordinate with technical teams to ensure successful content transfer Stakeholder Engagement Facilitate meetings and workshops with client stakeholders across departments Present findings, recommendations, and project updates in a clear and professional manner Build consensus around content standards and governance approaches Serve as a trusted advisor to the client on content management best practices Required Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in content strategy, information architecture, or a related discipline Demonstrated experience working on web or portal development projects Strong understanding of taxonomies, metadata schemas, and controlled vocabularies Experience with content migration planning and execution Solid business analysis skills, including requirements gathering and documentation Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliverables Professional consulting presence with strong communication and presentation abilities Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, including UX designers, developers, and business stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Experience with Microsoft SharePoint (Online or On‑Premises) Background in library science, information science, or records management Familiarity with enterprise content management systems (Laserfiche, OpenText, etc.) Understanding of UX principles and user‑centered design Experience developing enterprise search strategies, including faceted search and findability optimization Knowledge of content governance frameworks and retention policies What Success Looks Like Stakeholders across the organization can easily find the content they need through intuitive navigation and powerful search A clear, sustainable content management plan is in place and adopted by the client Taxonomies and metadata structures enable consistent organization across all migrated content Requirements are well‑documented and effectively guide technical implementation The client views you as a knowledgeable, reliable partner throughout the engagement Working Environment This is a project‑based consulting role requiring a balance of independent work and collaborative engagement. You should be comfortable working directly with clients, managing your own deliverables, and contributing to a team‑oriented project environment.
