SURGICAL FIRST ASSIST (CST) | DETAILS AND COMPENSATION:
Location: Barberton, OH – 100% On-site Payrate: $48/hr Required Availability: Full-Time | Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
SURGICAL FIRST ASSIST (CST) | SUMMARY AND HIGHLIGHTS: The Surgical First Assist (CST) will support surgeons during operative procedures in a fast-paced surgical environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety, surgical efficiency, and seamless collaboration across the perioperative team.
This position is a contract assignment with potential to hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and business needs Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment and include health, optical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates
SURGICAL FIRST ASSIST (CST) | RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist surgeons during procedures, including exposure, hemostasis, suturing, tying, tissue manipulation, wound closure, and dressing application Maintain responsibility for patient care and safety during surgical procedures under RN supervision Collaborate closely with surgeons, perioperative staff, and other hospital departments Facilitate clear and timely communication throughout the surgical process Maintain strict patient confidentiality and professional standards Support optimal perioperative care for patients and families with respect and dignity
SURGICAL FIRST ASSIST (CST) | REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED (verifiable) required Attendance: Commitment to mandatory attendance during the first 90 days. Completion of an accredited First Assist program Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required BCLS certification Completion of required clinical experience during education Strong manual dexterity and ability to work independently Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and twisting Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, or gases
