Optima Dermatology is recruiting a Human Resources Director to join our Practice Support Center, based in Portsmouth, NH.

The Human Resource Manager will oversee all aspects of the Human Resource (HR) department. This individual will bring a broad range of Human Resources expertise to help achieve Optima’s business objectives by planning and executing strategic and tactical HR initiatives. This role will supervise and support the HR Generalist, whose primary responsibilities are focused on employee onboarding, benefits administration, and payroll. This role will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities

In partnership with the HR Generalist, participates in the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; wellness; training and development; employee engagement, retention and succession

Reviews and coaches on employee performance appraisals, disciplinary action, performance improvement plans, individual development plans, and other similar performance tools

Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs (includes ownership of employee handbook and benefits offerings)

Oversees and manages development of materials for monthly company-wide meeting in partnership with COO

Oversees and manages the annual performance review and merit increase process

Partners with the HR Generalist to continually improve the new hire onboarding and orientation process

Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, engagement, and retention

Serves as “team happiness” champion for both corporate and clinic employees (e.g., drafting monthly updates and communication to company, organizing events to promote employee engagement, ensure the practice managers are organizing events to promote employee engagement among their work families)

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High energy self-starter with demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate others

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations

Ability to utilize third parties to find answers to technical questions as needed

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS systems (Paylocity)

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

At least five years of human resource management experience required

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
