Wage Range:
$20.91 - $29.44 NATURE OF WORK This is manual custodial work involving cleaning and performing a variety of related tasks in and around the power plant. This is an industrial environment. Work is generally performed in accordance with the established procedures and sanitary standards, with specific instructions provided on unusual problems. Supervision is received from an administrative superior who checks work for maintenance of established standards of cleanliness and compliance with instructions. Essential Functions
Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes floors; washes walls, woodwork, windows and blinds; polishes brass, dusts furniture and other articles; empties wastebaskets. Operate industrial floor stripper, polisher, and burnishing equipment. Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, restroom fixtures and kitchen fixtures, restroom walls, and mirrors; refills paper dispensers. Vacuums and shampoos carpets and upholstery; spot cleans when necessary. Changes light bulbs, starters and fuses; changes heating and air conditioning filters; paints interior and exterior surfaces; minor building repairs (i.e. drywall), minor janitorial equipment repair (i.e. vacuum) performs minor plumbing repairs. May operate manual and powered snow removal equipment. Performs other work as assigned. Desirable Knowledge, Abilities And Skills
Knowledge of the use and care of applicable cleaning equipment. Some knowledge of proper cleaning procedures and products. Ability to learn repetitive tasks quickly. Ability to use common hand tools as applies to custodian/janitorial processes. Knowledge and ability to properly use common cleaning chemicals in the janitorial trade. Basic computer skills to be able to communicate by email and enter information in the time keeping system. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent GED; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the knowledge, abilities and skills. Must be self-motivated to maintain cleaning standards, identify, and clean items when required. Necessary Special Requirements
Employee must possess and maintain a valid Nebraska Driver's License when operating a vehicle.
