Child Care Center Assistant Cook Bring your cooking talents and kitchen management skills as an Assistant Cook. You’ll plan menus, prepare meals, and order inventory as you make a real difference in the lives of children, families, and staff. This position offers a schedule of 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, at our Ochsner Early Learning Center. The role includes approximately 20 hours per week supporting kitchen operations and 20 hours per week teaching and engaging with children in the classroom.

Responsibilities

Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals for children and staff.

Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.

Manage all aspects of prepping and preparing meals, as well as cleaning and complying with sanitation requirements.

Qualifications

At least 18 years of age with a high school degree or GED required.

Relevant experience working in a licensed child care center, public school, or commercial kitchen is required.

Food Handlers permit or ServSafe certification according to state/local regulations required.

Physical Requirements This position requires the employee to comply with all applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons’, and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physical/screening, and health and safety training. The employee will work in person in an early education/preschool child care center to provide supervision, care, curriculum delivery, and services as per Bright Horizons’ policies and applicable laws.

Compensation The hourly rate for this position is between $14.42 and $19.47 per hour. The pay range listed here is what Bright Horizons in good faith anticipates offering for this job opening. Actual compensation offers within this range will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, certifications, geography, and other relevant business or organizational factors.
