Des Moines Performing Arts is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Stagehand with a strong focus on live audio to support performances in our Temple Theater venue. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants hands‑on experience in a professional but community‑oriented performing arts environment. Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and strike audio equipment for rehearsals, performances, and special events. Assist with microphone placement, cable management, monitors, and basic troubleshooting. Support overall stage operations, including load‑in, load‑out, scene changes, and maintaining a safe, organized backstage environment. Collaborate with technical staff, visiting artists, stage management, and front‑of‑house teams to ensure smooth show execution. Perform routine checks and upkeep of audio gear to ensure consistent quality and reliability. Qualifications
1–2 years of experience working with live audio in theater, concerts, or related environments. Basic understanding of mixing consoles, signal flow, microphones, and audio best practices. Ability to lift and move equipment (up to ~50 lbs.) and work on your feet for extended periods. Strong communication skills, punctuality, and a team‑oriented mindset. Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment, often under time constraints. Preferred (Not Required)
Familiarity with small‑venue audio systems and digital mixing platforms. Experience with lighting or general technical theater a plus. Seniority Level
