Residential Counselor (Full Time/Part Time)
Energetic, committed persons needed to provide direct care for youth in a facility for runaway, homeless, street, emergency foster care and long‑term residential care. Facilitates supervision, recreational activities, life skills coaching/training, and day‑to‑day shelter/residential management (including meal prep and maintenance) in Open House Emergency Youth Shelter & Residential Services for children and youth, ages 6‑18.

Location/Schedule:
On‑site; All shifts include overnight hours
City/State/County:
Wilmington, NC – New Hanover County
Salary:
$17.05/hour
Schedule Position is part time and includes a mandatory monthly residential team meeting. Schedule is ideal for college/graduate students. 16‑hour on‑the‑job training is provided. Drug screen, national/state criminal record, NC Health Care AND Sex Offender Registry, and NC DSS Responsible Individual List checks are required.
Job Duties / Responsibilities Provide direct care, supervision, recreational activities, life skills coaching/training, and day‑to‑day shelter/residential management, including meal preparation and maintenance.
Qualifications
Applicants must be 21 years or older
Four (4) year college/university degree in human services or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
One year of experience in counseling or working with at‑risk youth
Current North Carolina Driver’s license with evidence of a good driving record
Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
