Fur & Feather Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting and caring for homeless and unwanted animals by providing medical care, rehabilitation, and adoption within a safe, no‑kill environment. We fight animal cruelty, educate the public on responsible pet ownership, and support wildlife rehabilitation. Our vision is to build California’s first fully solar‑powered, 65‑acre no‑kill sanctuary that serves as overflow for city and county shelters while assisting traditional rescues with critical medical care and foster programs.
Duties May Include
Research potential funding opportunities and summarize pertinent information
Assist in grant submissions, including but not limited to:
Preparing letters of intent
Reviewing literature
Writing narratives
Working with key staff to obtain information
Submitting applications
Assisting with program requirements (post‑award)
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Current student working toward a degree
Grant writing or classroom experience; superior writing skills
Knowledge of diverse grant application procedures and best practice in the nonprofit sector
Excellent written and verbal skills
Computer literate
Excellent analytical and research skills
Highly organized, able to multi‑task, and work with deadlines
Ability to explain the organization’s message to a broad range of people
Strong commitment and passion for the organization’s mission
Open‑minded with excellent interpersonal and active listening skills
Strong ethics and integrity
Training
Volunteer Orientation
Familiarity with FFAS’s current business and goals
Comprehensive knowledge of FFAS’s Volunteer Manual
On‑the‑job training; working with other volunteers and/or personnel
Suggested Work Shifts Open
Importance of the Job This support is critical to the sanctuary’s financial stability, as much of our funding comes from grants.
