FT Animal Keeper - Primates
Association Of Zoos & Aquariums, Sacramento, California, United States, 95828
Position Summary
The Sacramento Zoo has an immediate opening for a FT Animal Keeper position in the primate section. Our Animal Keepers are essential members of the animal care team responsible for the daily husbandry, behavioral health, and welfare of a diverse exotic animal collection. Working under the guidance of Animal Care Supervisors, Keepers perform all aspects of animal care and contribute to a high standard of welfare, enrichment, training, and guest engagement in accordance with AZA accreditation standards.
This position will require experience with primates and ideally great apes. We are looking to add a keeper to our primate team to assist in the care of our primate collection, including a trio of sumatran orangutans, whose habitat is currently being renovated for improvements to animal wellbeing, staff husbadry, and visitor experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate a positive attitude, be highly team-oriented, solution-focused, well-organized, and proactive in problem-solving. They should communicate clearly, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and embody the Zoo’s core values of professionalism, learning, and passion for animal care in an AZA-accredited setting. If there is a desire, this position may have the opportunity to train with other taxa in the future.
