Position Summary The Dining Server is responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests by providing courteous and efficient table service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety, and ensuring dining areas are welcoming and sanitary. This role supports daily meal service, special events, food preparation and cost‑control, and collaborates with team members to uphold Cedarhurst’s dining standards.
Essential Functions
Assist with catering, room service, special events, and marketing functions.
Promptly take orders and deliver service in a courteous, accurate, and efficient manner.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area and follow food safety standards.
Clear, sanitize, and reset tables; dispose of trash and clean containers; complete daily checklists.
Assist with post‑meal cleaning of dining areas.
Adapt service to meet individual resident dining preferences and needs.
Support cost‑control efforts by minimizing waste and using supplies responsibly.
Accurately follow recipes and ingredient labels.
Safely operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment.
Demonstrate knowledge of dining menus and communicate menu details to residents and guests.
Prepare and maintain table settings to meet dining standards.
Maintain current knowledge of food safety regulations and infection control guidelines.
Apply basic math skills to dining‑related tasks.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
Collaborate with team members, follow management direction, and demonstrate initiative.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Up to two years of prior experience preferred; senior living experience strongly desired.
Relevant state or county licensure preferred; ability to obtain required licensure if necessary.
CPR or BLS certification preferred.
Proficiency with common digital tools (Microsoft Office, web platforms, electronic health records).
Working Conditions
May need to walk or stand for extended periods and move throughout the community.
May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing.
Requires effective communication and interpretation of written information.
May lift up to 50 pounds alone, up to 200 pounds with assistance.
Must follow infection prevention protocols and use PPE when necessary.
Participate in staff activities fostering teamwork and morale.
Stay current on all training and ongoing education initiatives.
