Summary/Objective:
Automotive Technician A is a master/senior technician that is an expert in all systems, leadership, and customer interaction. Highly proficient in diagnosing and repairing the most complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Highly proficient in diagnosing, repairing, and troubleshooting all major vehicle systems, including hybrid and electrical vehicles.
Expert use of all diagnostic and repair tools and equipment.
Comprehensive knowledge of the latest automotive technologies.
Leadership abilities, capable of mentoring other technicians and providing expert advice to service advisors.
Excellent customer communication skills, able to explain technical issues in a way that customers can understand.
Maintains dealership records that are legible and accurate that reflect the work performed.
Tests the functionality of parts and systems
Helps keep repair shop clean and organized.
Keeps a professional appearance.
Adheres to all company policy and procedures.
Leading teams and supervising the work of lower-level technicians (i.e. serves as Journey Worker supporting the GRAP apprenticeships)
May perform duties as a Shop Foreman when needed.
Qualifications Skills & Qualifications:
More than 5 years of experience with advanced certifications or manufacture specific training.
Able to anticipate and understand customers’ needs and provide viable solutions.
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication expertise.
Ability to work as a team and independently.
Valid Driver’s License
Education and Experience:
HS diploma or GED equivalent.
Degree in Automotive repair or minimum of one to three years of progressive experience.
Willing to obtain on the job training and certifications as needed.
At least 4 years of Automotive Apprenticeship experience preferred.
Valid in-state driver's license required.
