Responsibilities of an Activity Assistant
Implement scheduled programs and assist residents as needed.
Monitor resident behavior during events and communicate to nursing as needed.
Maintain and manage activity attendance calendars.
Assist in preparing and displaying holiday decorations throughout facility.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Activities and Administrator.
Qualifications of an Activity Assistant
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
Knowledge of elderly ill and/or disabled.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
Knowledge of equipment used in long‑term care (e.g., lifts, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, and scales).
