West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176‑bed acute care facility is fully accredited and includes a 16‑bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency.

We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults, including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services. West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Activity Aide/Coordinator to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Activity Coordinator will assist the Recreation Therapist and Manager to design and initiate appropriate therapeutic services to improve the physical, mental and emotional well‑being of patients. The coordinator will also coordinate entertainment, exercise, relaxation, expression, music, art, pet and other recreational programs.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

Provides activities in accordance with the recreational curriculum.

Provides an assortment of leisure activities related to the assigned program.

Assists patients in developing an understanding of the benefits of ongoing health and fitness.

Assists patients in improving social interaction.

Works with the treatment team to develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs.

Maintains recreational areas and equipment.

Completes documentation accurately and timely.

Maintains observation of patients and shares appropriate information with the manager.

Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe environment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.

Licensure and Certification: Preferred CTRS or CTRAC; CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications required.

Experience: One year of experience in program specialty; preferred one year in a healthcare environment.
