Instructor or Lecturer, Advertising and Public Relations - NSCM The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for an instructor or lecturer position in Advertising and Public Relations. This position is anticipated to begin in August 2026. This job is a 9-month, non-tenure earning, annually renewable position that offers a clear career path with the possibility of promotion based on years of service and performance.

Overview The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of the school by teaching undergraduate courses in the Advertising/Public Relations degree program. The candidate may be expected to teach in multiple modalities, including face-to-face and online, and to offer skill-based courses such as Public Relations Writing. The instructional duties and service assignments are in accordance with the department’s current equitable workload policy.

Other typical responsibilities include actively participating in the school’s academic life. This includes serving on committees, attending faculty meetings and graduations, engaging with student groups to foster student professional development outside of the classroom, and assessing student learning. External service expectations may include work with appropriate academic bodies and professional organizations.

Responsibilities Generate and deliver engaging undergraduate courses in Advertising and Public Relations, including skill-based courses such as Public Relations Writing.

Deliver course content in multiple modalities, including face-to-face instruction and online instruction.

Assist in service assignments including participation in faculty committees, faculty meetings, student professional development activities, and student learning assessment.

Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree (for an instructor) or a terminal degree (for a lecturer) from an accredited institution in a related field with experience and specialized expertise directly related to the position.

Demonstrated teaching experience (instructor of record) in advertising and/or public relations skills courses.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated professional experience in advertising, public relations, strategic communications, and/or a related area.

A minimum of five years of progressive relevant professional or creative activity.

Evidence of effective teaching or strong potential for effective college-level instruction.

Evidence of effective teaching or strong potential for effectiveness in skill-based courses (e.g. Writing for PR).

Ability to integrate emerging trends, tools, and technologies into teaching and professional activity.

Experience advising student organizations (e.g., PRSSA) or mentoring students in applied professional contexts.

Involvement in Advertising and/or Public Relations professional associations.
