Job Summary Provide support and care to individuals admitted to the Engagement Center. Duties include basic vital assessment, light meal preparation, cleaning facility, coordinating services (e.g., treatment, inpatient admission), documentation, monitoring of individuals, and light laundry.

Responsibilities

Obtain relevant history and related information from the individual seeking services and other pertinent sources to establish eligibility and appropriateness of services.

Assess individual’s immediate needs by evaluating relevant information, including signs and symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal and determining severity of the individual’s substance use disorder.

Provide supervision to individuals seeking services from the Engagement Center.

Prepare meals for individuals at the Engagement Center.

Sanitize and clean common areas and individual rooms of people being served daily.

Identify treatment referrals/resources within the community appropriate to meeting the needs of the individuals served.

Required Skills / Education

High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required.

Must be in long‑term recovery from a substance use disorder for at least four consecutive years.

One year of peer coaching or related experience preferred.

Must possess active status in both certifications: Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) and Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) or have an active development plan through MCBAP and timely completion.

Certificate of completion of the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy, including ethics.

Demonstrates in practice that there are multiple pathways to recovery.

Familiarity with local substance use treatment services; works variable shifts as necessary.

Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.

Completion of ICHAT check, National and State Sex Offender Registry Check.

Must possess knowledge and understanding of Recovery Oriented System of Care, Trauma Informed Services, and Motivational Interviewing.
