Utility Pipelayer Laborer

The Position The Utility Pipelayer is responsible for installing, aligning and inspecting underground utilities such as water mains, sewer lines, storm drains and other piping systems. This role involves working as part of a construction crew to prepare trenches, lay pipe to grade and ensure proper connections that meet safety and project specifications. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
The pipelayer will also assist with keeping machines and equipment maintained, assist in clean‑up of the job site and other duties assigned by the foreman or other management.
Responsibilities Install, align and inspect underground utilities, prepare trenches, lay pipe, maintain equipment, clean up job site, and complete assigned duties.

Location Projects vary by location. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to any job site as needed. Projects typically located throughout Dane County.
Candidate
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Class A CDL strongly desired.
High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Punctual and dependable.
Able to work varied hours including nights, early mornings and weekends as needed.
Ability to tolerate variable weather, dirty and dusty environments.
Member of a local labor union or willingness to become one. Union membership not required prior to employment.
3–5 years road construction laborer experience preferred.
Minimum 6 months experience in assembling and installing sanitary sewer pipe, water main, storm sewer pipe and manholes.
Knowledge of confined spaces, OSHA trenching and sloping preferred.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
