Responsibilities
Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure proper preparation and presentation of food items.
Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Ensure that all food products are stored, rotated, and received properly, maintaining temperature settings and proper inventory.
Prepare and cook high‑quality dishes according to standard recipes or guest specifications.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Manage kitchen equipment, reporting any issues to the chef or engineering for service or repair.
Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency and exceptional dining experiences.
Assist with requisitions for supplies and food items required for production.
Maintain floor cleanliness to prevent slip/fall accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Perform any additional duties, such as assisting with VIP parties, special events, and staff meetings.
Hotel Specific
Perform duties across multiple outlets on the property as required.
Physical Demands
Strong knowledge of food products, standard recipes, and preparation techniques.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate job duties clearly.
Finger/hand dexterity for operating kitchen equipment and performing food preparation tasks.
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 100 lbs. continuously.
Ability to perform additional duties as required, including participation in special events.
Qualifications Education
High school diploma or its equivalent.
Completion of culinary or apprenticeship program preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years cook experience in a hotel preferred.
Minimum of 2 years cook experience in a similar role; size of operation required.
Certifications in food safety (e.g., ServSafe) may be required.
Basic mathematical skills are necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes.
