Affordable Housing Porter

Position Details

Starting Wage:

$17.60 – $19.66/hour DOE

Full Range:

$17.60 – $27.49/hour

Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle

What You’ll Do As the Affordable Housing Porter, you’ll be the cornerstone of curb appeal and cleanliness for over 200 affordable housing units. Your role will include:

Keeping properties clean and safe by sanitizing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.

Snow removal.

Taking on special deep-cleaning projects and post-construction cleanups.

Providing

landscaping support

such as mowing, trimming, and seasonal snow removal.

Managing sprinklers and watering schedules.

Removing trash, recycling, and pet waste.

Stocking and maintaining supply rooms.

Reporting maintenance needs and working closely with management to address issues.

Promoting a respectful, team-oriented environment while upholding SNAP’s mission and values.

Qualifications Requirements:

Education and Experience

Required: 1 year of experience in any related field

Preferred: High School or equivalent; 1 year of experience specifically in janitorial and landscaping work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to empathize with and advocate for low-income and vulnerable people, and to maintain confidentiality with personal information.

Ability to safely use construction and insulation tools, materials, and equipment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with emphasis on effectively working in a team environment and with a diverse population.

Training and Certifications

Valid drivers license and good driving record

Other training as warranted for the program (training provided)

Work Environment / Physical Activities This position requires working in seasonal heat and cold. Must be able to safely perform physical aspects of the job including lifting up to 85 pounds, pulling, transporting, handling equipment and materials, crawling, and using step ladders. Frequently works in confined spaces, such as beneath floors and in attics and crawl spaces. May require working on rooftops and other potentially hazardous areas. May be exposed to dusty, wet, muddy, poorly ventilated and occasionally unsanitary environments. May be exposed to fumes and substances including paint, solvents, and other materials.
