Pay: $20 an hour. Hours: 2nd shift, including weekends.
Responsibilities Provides support for people and/or groups with disabilities both in residential and day settings by performing and leading by example in carrying out Direct Support job responsibilities. Serves as mentor, trainer and coach to Direct Support Employees. Responsible for carrying out mentorship responsibilities for new Direct Support Employees to ensure thorough training and abilities. Assists with ensuring staff coverage of all three shifts as scheduled by the Residential Team Leader or as necessary due to staff unavailability. May be required to reside (sleep over) if working special schedules or work weeks.
Assists the person(s) receiving services in identifying and communicating their requests and needs for services and supports. Implements services and supports to address the person’s goals and desired outcomes as identified through each person’s Person Centered Plan. Relies on knowledge, experience, and judgment to complete tasks with supervision and direction from the Residential Team Leader.
Pair new employees to shadow on 2nd shift during DSM's shift and assist with other shifts and ensure training on Person-specific training.
Monitor active treatment, mealtime (possibly complete assessments for the month).
Make grocery/supply lists.
Survey prep/QA prep.
Conduct fire drills.
Train fill-in staff.
Monitor restrictions and ensure staff are following them.
Complete Personal Property Inventories for Persons supported.
Check adaptive equipment for hygiene and mealtime use and ensure good working order.
Ensure all personal support plans are being followed – mealtime, OT, PT, oral hygiene, etc.
Qualifications The ideal candidate is patient, compassionate, nurturing, and has a calm demeanor in times of stress.
High school diploma or GED.
Experience working with IDD individuals (preferred).
Minimum one year working with the population served.
Valid driver’s license with personal vehicle insurance coverage (condition of employment).
Maintain proficiency in company-sponsored training and certifications as required.
CPR and First Aid certification; Med Tech, NCI certifications and other core competency training as specified by company regulations.
Clinical supervision by a qualified professional when required by licensure or certification.
Demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level.
Meet conditions of employment: criminal record check, pre-employment drug screening, healthcare registry check, motor vehicle registry check.
Pre-employment Screening
Complete criminal background check.
Registry checks (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities).
Drug testing.
Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
Proof of employment history or references if required.
For positions requiring driving: proof of driver's license, insurance, vehicle if transporting individuals.
