The Owned Brand division within REVOLVE is an industry‑leading fashion design and production house based in Los Angeles. Leveraging the power of REVOLVE’s data‑driven merchandising combined with raw creative talent results in an unparalleled ability to identify specific market niches and develop brands that each have their own identity, designed with a distinct consumer interest and personality in mind.
Main purpose of the Knitwear Designer role This is a full‑time role for an experienced, talented designer with a strong background in knitwear. The designer should have knowledge working with elevated garments and experience in all aspects of design from development to production, launching new products from sketch. Responsibilities include research, development, sketching, tech packs and sample management for each season across multiple brands. The Knitwear Designer will work effectively with cross‑functional partners to ensure product integrity and fit consistency, and will be an out‑of‑the‑box thinker who exudes passion and expertise within the role. The designer will work across contemporary brands: Helsa, GRLFRND, LPA, Song of Style, L’Academie, House of Harlow (brands may change depending on style/skill level – multiple brands is the main idea).
Major Responsibilities
Ownership over brands from development to production
Leading meetings and working one on one with directors and outside influencers
Sending out seasonal stitch development based on direction/brand concept
Sketching
Tech‑packing
Leading fittings, updating tech pack construction and BOMs
Commenting on first prototypes
Working cross‑functionally with product development on costing options
Communicating with our vendors on yarn development/R&D
Meeting with yarn mills and stitch vendors
Shopping the market for inspiration
Essential Competencies
Strong technical knitwear background – understanding of yarns, stitches, and fully fashioned construction
Understanding the relationship of yarn and stitch and executing successful stitch development
Ability to map/plan out yarn groups/concepts for the season in line with direction given
Strong understanding of stitches/yarns in relation to costing
Strong sketching ability
Strong communication skills working cross‑functionally and with many outside influencers
Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize deadlines accordingly
Organized and able to juggle multiple deadlines and calendars
Team player in a fast‑paced environment
Confidence in leading fittings and meetings
Confidence in working one on one with directors and outside influencers/celebrities
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in fully fashioned knitwear
Preferred Qualifications
Fully fashioned knitwear work experience (knitwear degree preferred)
Procreate proficiency
Excel proficiency
Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator proficiency
Google Suite proficiency
Candidates must submit a portfolio or work samples to be considered. A design assessment may be assigned.
