Cabinet Maker – Trade Show Fabrication

Base pay range $30.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Position Summary The Cabinet Maker will build, assemble, and finish custom components for trade show exhibits, event displays, and retail environments. This role combines precision woodworking skills with the ability to meet fast‑paced deadlines and adapt to a wide range of custom designs and materials. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, takes pride in craftsmanship, and enjoys working in a collaborative, creative fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly
Construct custom cabinets, counters, walls, kiosks, and other display elements according to technical drawings and shop plans.
Operate woodworking machinery (table saws, routers, edge banders, sanders, CNC, etc.) safely and efficiently.
Assemble components using hardware, adhesives, and fasteners appropriate for trade show display systems.
Ensure all parts are built to spec, square, and finished to high‑quality standards.
Plastic laminate and finish filing.
Material Handling
Work with a variety of materials including plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, acrylic, aluminum extrusion, and solid surface.
Prepare and finish surfaces, including sanding, laminating, painting, or staining as required.
Collaboration & Workflow
Work closely with project managers, designers, and lead builders to ensure accurate interpretation of design intent.
Communicate proactively about build issues, material shortages, or design challenges.
Assist with booth setup, test fitting, or onsite installations as needed.
Quality & Safety
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Inspect completed work for accuracy, durability, and aesthetic quality.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of cabinet making, carpentry, or exhibit fabrication experience (trade show or event industry preferred).
Technical Skills
Proficiency with standard woodworking tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists.
Familiarity with CNC or AutoCAD/Cabinet Vision systems a plus.
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable standing, bending, and operating equipment for extended periods.
Ability to work overtime or weekends during peak production periods or show schedules.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in trade show, museum, or retail display fabrication.
Knowledge of modular exhibit systems or scenic construction.
Creative problem‑solving and adaptability to changing project requirements.
