CNC Mill Machinist II
Location: Chandler, AZ
Professional Placement Services (PPS) is offering this full-time position with a highly competitive pay rate and excellent benefits.
Base pay range: $20.00/hr – $23.00/hr
Responsibilities:
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Ideal Candidate:
Basic math skills for calculating material fabrication.
Intermediate knowledge of precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators).
Intermediate reading of drawings and specifications with Euclidean tolerance and dimensions.
Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and accessories used on CNC machines.
Experience programming mills and lathes, including zero/reference points, tool registers, offsets, and compensations.
Adaptability to a changing work environment and ability to handle frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
Strong work ethic, willingness to work overtime and shifts.
Capacity to work in a fast‑paced environment, meet deadlines and stand for long periods.
Contribution to continuous improvement in output, quality, cost and delivery.
4+ years operating CNC machines (lathes and milling machines) in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Haas CNC Mill experience preferred.
