Job Summary As a full-time, onsite Fire Sprinkler Fitter at RLH Fire Protection Inc., you will perform the installation of fire protection piping, valves, and accessories for commercial and industrial applications. Acting as self-starting and safety-oriented fitter, with an active Cal Fire card your precision and expertise will contribute to the safety and effectiveness of various projects.

Essential Duties

Assembly, installation, alterations, and repairs of pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, air, steam, or other liquids and gases.

Up to but not limited to the maintenance, modifications, and cleaning of pipe systems.

Ability to clearly communicate and articulate job needs

Time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Ability to read and interpret blueprints

Basic math and measurement knowledge

Have a working knowledge of proper care and use of tools

Valid driver's license and ability to present personal car insurance

Be willing to work out of town with occasional overnight stays

Qualifications

Ability to understand and identify the characteristics of wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, and deluge systems.

Understanding of when each of the four primary fire system types as well as specialty systems should be utilized

Ability to describe how various sprinklers, pipe, valves, and water flow devices are used in aboveground applications and the three primary system piping configurations

Understands the principles of sprinkler system earthquake protection through seismic bracing and restraint, and formulas used to calculate sprinkler protection areas

Understands and can identify special architectural protection requirements around features such as cloud ceilings, soffits and other obstructive structural and decorative building components

Can identify and understand occupancy and commodity classification requirements

Can identify and understand component and hardware requirements for fire sprinklers, hangers, and brace components

Can identify and understand piping system installation requirements and identify different types of hazards

Safety/Physical Requirements

Ability to carry/move tools and equipment up to 75lb.

Continuous walking, standing, squatting, and lifting

Ability to work in varying outdoor temperatures, and indoor cold temperatures depending on cold box/freezer temps

Ability to work in confined spaces

Related Experience 2 years of relevant job experience required

Education High Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Combination of experience and education may substitute education requirements.

Pay rate: $20.00-$45.00 per hour

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Division Manager

Supervisory: This position does not have any direct reporting employees.
